Water Quality Technician

Job Description:

Sunnyside Valley Irrigation District (SVID) is seeking a full-time Water Quality Technician.. Any interested candidates should value routinely working in the field and laboratory setting. This position requires collecting water samples, and performing chemical and biological testing of the samples on the same day. Daily and/or weekly operation and maintenance of field sampling and laboratory equipment are required. This individual will be required to perform water quality sampling at district waterway facilities and will be responsible to process laboratory data and records on a year-round basis. Exposure to inclement weather conditions and wading in waterways will occur at times. Individual is required to lift up to 50 lbs. of weight.  Desirable skills include: time management; experience working in a laboratory; data analysis and management; knowledge with  Microsoft Office programs (Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); strong field observational skills; detail-oriented; and ability to work independently. A minimum of an AA degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, geology, natural resources, or other scientific field of study is preferred but not required.  Relevant work experience may be substituted for education.  Wage: $50,000 to 52,000 per year DOQ.  Benefit package includes medical, dental, retirement, paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.  Submit an application, resume, and letter of interest via the Sunnyside Valley Irrigation District’s website or email to chapinf@svid.org attention Forrest Chapin, Water Quality Supervisor.
