BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The District shall have five directors. Each director’s term of office shall be for three years, commencing on the first Tuesday of January following his election. Each director must qualify as an elector of the director division for which he files for office.
What is a qualified elector?
A person eighteen years old, being a citizen of the United States and a resident of the state and who holds title or evidence of title to assessable land in the District shall be entitled to vote therein, and to be recognized as an elector.
Method and deadline for declaring candidacy:
Each candidate for election to the position of director must be nominated by petition signed by at least ten qualified electors of the director division for which the candidate is filing. The Nominating Petition must be filed with the District Secretary no later than five o’ clock p.m. on the first Monday in November. The election shall be held on the second Tuesday of each December; provided, however, that if only one candidate is nominated for a director position, no election shall be held for that director division but said candidate shall be declared elected to the Board of Directors.
Request an absentee ballot or mail-in ballot by a qualified elector:
A ballot and form of certificate of qualification will be furnished to an individual on written request being made of the district’s secretary.
